Bears held back in Cornwall

The Bears started their season off with a disappointing defeat down in Cornwall’s new venue at Indian Queens.

The day started with a 4-2 loss in Ladies B with wins from New team manager Caroline Pike and our new recruit Kirsty Hinchcliffe taking the LOM with a 17.94.

Mens B were looking good after a 2nd new recruit Sam Whittaker took to the first position with a solid 25.72 4-1 win but then four losses on the bounce left the County reeling and in need of some inspiration, two good wins from Will Naylor and Sam Price MOM 26.03 and then a further two wins from Scott Hope and Karl Reynolds.

Overall score 11-7

Sunday new hope and a first game win from Donna Pinch but only one more victory came from Wendy Adams LOM 17.08. Others in that game would feel rather unlucky to lose out. However we found ourselves 15 – 9 down overall.

Mens A were looking to get the scoreline back to give the County a fighting chance of gaining anything. First game loss was followed by six straight wins from Steve Hine, Jamie Atkins, Matty Washbrooke, Wayne Mynard, Gareth Braham and Nigel Heydon, disappointingly we were only able to gain one more win from the returning Mark McGeeney who took the MOM with a 29.18.

Final result Cornwall 20 (23) Warwickshire 16.

Next is a home fixture versus Lancashire
