World No1s take Midland Titles

Steve Bunting and Deta Hedman the current WDF Worlds top players both were victorious in this years Midland Open. A hugely dissapointing 82 Players was the total entry this year which defies belief as it boasts the top prize anywhere in the Midlands and also amongst the elite events on the Open Circuit throughout the country. A superb field nevetheless with up to half of the entrants capable of taking the title. Some early rounds saw some draws that would have been on the scale later in the Competition, Kevin Dowling drawing former Warwickshire player Mark McGeeney now residing up North in Lancashire with Mark taking the spoils 4-1, Dennis Smith faced England International Jamie Hughes with Hughes winning 4-0. Tipton players Tommy Aldridge and Ian Jones also had a 1st round clash with Jones coming out on top in a stunning game. Hughes went on to face three more Oxfordshire players winning all three to gain himself a last 8 spot along with Bunting, Steve West, Jay Foreman, Colin Osbourne, Nigel Heydon, Mark McGeeney and Johnny Haines. Bunting faced County team mate McGeeney in the final with Bunting victorious with a 6-2 scoreline.
